WHITE RIVER JUNCTION –– The Hartford Hurricanes used a punishing running game to manhandle the North Country Falcons Friday night by a 49-12 count. Hartford got three touchdowns from senior tailback Nick Danials including a 76 yard kickoff return and 116 yards on the ground.
NCUHS got down 49-0 before responding with a seven yard run by senior Julian Thrialkill midway through the third period and a touchdown pass of six yards from freshman Noah Taylor to freshman Germari Thompson on the evening’s final play.
The Falcons had some bright spots including a 12 completion night throwing the ball by converted wide receiver Jason Pellieter. The Falcons moved the pigskin for 14 first downs during the game against one of the states best Division One defenses. Junior wide receiver Kamryn Huntington had five receptions for 64 yards.
It was too much Hartford though, as they racked up over 400 yards of offense. HHS senior running back Tyler Piper added two scoring jaunts from 11 and 5 yards out. Piper broke six runs of over ten yards during the contest finishing with 87 yards on 7 carries to complement backfield mate Nick Danials. That one two punch collected over 200 yards on the ground and 5 touchdowns between them as Hartford moved to 5-2 on the year.
North Country stands at 2-5 with Mount Abraham coming to Veterans field in Newport City this coming Friday Oct 18th. Pre-game on the Northeast Sports Network starts at 6:45 p.m.
