Stowe man charged with assault, burglary in Richmond home invasion

RICHMOND — A Stowe man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and burglary after allegedly breaking into a Richmond home and assaulting a woman, Vermont State Police said.

Aart Nugteren, 66, is accused of forcefully entering a residence on Lilly Pond Cir. and assaulting 46-year-old Jennifer Ruest on Oct. 12 at 4:45 p.m. State Police received a report of the incident and responded promptly to the scene.

Upon arrival, troopers located Nugteren inside the residence.

Following an investigation, he was taken into custody and transported to the Williston Barracks for processing.

Nugteren was later moved to the Northwest Correctional facility and held on $1,500 bail.

The victim sustained bodily harm during the assault, and further details about her condition were not immediately available.

The case remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
