Dummerston man faces charges for eluding police, driving with suspended license

DUMMERSTON — A 42-year-old man from Saxton’s River was arrested on charges of eluding law enforcement, driving while criminally suspended, and providing false information to a police officer, the Windham County Sheriff’s Office reported.

On Sept. 9 at around 7:20 p.m., Brian Brownell was detained after deputies observed his vehicle speeding on Route 30.

According to Investigating Deputy Sharon Kennedy, Brownell attempted to flee on foot and provided false information to officers during the encounter.

Further investigation revealed that Brownell’s driver’s license had been criminally suspended.

Following his arrest, Brownell was processed and transported to Southern State Correctional Facility.

He was issued a citation to appear at the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division, on a date to be scheduled.

The Windham County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading to Brownell’s arrest or any potential impacts on traffic during the incident.

The case remains under investigation.
