Pawtucket sees two arrested in narcotics task force operation

PAWTUCKET — Members of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force arrested two men on drug and assault charges Friday afternoon following the conclusion of a narcotics investigation.

Nelson Barbosa, 27, of Pawtucket, faces multiple charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon and possession with intent to deliver various controlled substances.

He was apprehended at 1:15 p.m. and, after sustaining injuries, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

A Justice of the Peace specially arraigned him before he was transferred to the ACI Intake Center to await arraignment at 6th Division District Court.

In a separate but simultaneous operation, Elijah Blyden, 25, of Cranston, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and possession with intent to deliver marijuana, among others.

Blyden also received medical attention at Rhode Island Hospital before his special arraignment and subsequent transfer to the ACI Intake Center.
