NEWFIELD — Maine State Police Southern Field Troopers and York County Sheriff Deputies engaged in a high-speed pursuit Thursday morning involving multiple stolen vehicles and spanning several towns along the Maine-New Hampshire border.

The chase began around 10 a.m. when authorities pursued Garrett Littlefield, 33, of Alfred, who was driving a stolen 1986 Chrysler LeBaron with a suspended license and was believed to be under the influence.

Littlefield, who had multiple felony warrants for his arrest, led police on a chase through Acton and Newfield.

Deputies successfully deployed spike mats to stop the Chrysler in Acton, but Littlefield fled on foot and commandeered a blue 2014 Ford F-150 from a nearby residence.

However, Littlefield’s evasion was short-lived.

At 1 p.m., after abandoning the Ford near an Oxford dealership, he stole a black Chevy pickup truck.

A Trooper spotted him running a stop sign on Rte. 121 in Otisfield at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

The pursuit ended when the truck hit more spike mats, resulting in at least two flat tires and a crash into a ditch.

Littlefield and his passenger, Shantel Rodriguez, 22, of Biddeford, attempted to flee on foot.

Rodriguez was quickly caught, but Littlefield managed to elude capture.

The search involving the Maine State Police, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Warden Service, and Maine Forest Service was initially unsuccessful.

However, at 5:20 p.m., the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a dump truck driving erratically and at high speeds on Rte. 302 in Bridgton.

The truck, operated by Littlefield, eventually stopped at a Big Apple gas station in Bridgton, where he tried to take a green Subaru Outback from a couple who were unharmed.

Police swiftly apprehended Littlefield at the gas station.

Both suspects were taken to a hospital for evaluation and then transported to Cumberland County Jail.

The day-long crime spree resulted in several stolen vehicles and a significant law enforcement response across multiple jurisdictions.
