Bristol motorcycle crash leaves one dead

BRISTOL — A motorcyclist died early Saturday morning after crashing on Farmington Avenue while speeding, Bristol Police Department reported.

The incident occurred on Oct. 12 shortly after midnight when officers on patrol observed two motorcycles racing westbound on Farmington Avenue at high speeds near Oakland Street.

Upon attempting to stop the motorcycles, one sergeant discovered that one of the riders had lost control and crashed after failing to negotiate a curve in the road.

Emergency lifesaving measures were administered to the motorcyclist at the scene.

The individual was then transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead.

The Bristol Police Department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START team) was called to the scene to conduct an investigation.

The area of the accident was closed to traffic until 6 a.m. while the team processed the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased motorcyclist, pending notification of next of kin.

The Bristol Police Department urges anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward and contact the START team at 860-584-3038 to assist with the ongoing investigation.
