Shrewsbury man arrested for assault at Auburn spa

AUBURN — A Shrewsbury man was arrested on charges of indecent assault and battery at a local spa, Auburn police reported Sunday.

Guangyo Gao, 22, is accused of forcing a female customer to touch him inappropriately during a massage at Health Spa, located at 385 Southbridge Street.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls for a disturbance at the spa on Oct. 6.

The victim, described as an approximately 30-year-old woman, was one of the callers seeking help.

Auburn Police Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the incident further.

The owner of Health Spa, which operates under the business certificate Zhu Relaxation DBA Health Spa since February 2020 and renewed in April, could face potential administrative action.

Chief Lemon is in communication with an investigator from the Department of Licensure for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts regarding the case.

Gao has been charged with indecent assault and battery of a person over 14.

The Auburn Police Department is withholding specific details due to the sensitive nature of the crime.
