Rockland police bust narcotics operation, seize drugs and firearms

ROCKLAND — A joint operation between the Rockland Police Department, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of drugs and firearms following a search warrant execution at a Luce Avenue residence on Oct. 10.

The residence, suspected of being involved in narcotics sales and contributing to local quality of life issues, yielded suspected stolen property, multiple firearms including a short-barreled rifle, and an assortment of narcotics such as crack/cocaine and heroin/fentanyl.

Gary Gilbert, 56, of Rockland, faces serious charges including felony Aggravated Drug Trafficking, Possession of Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and Violation of Conditions of Release.

Arrests also included Mark Gagne, 41, Virgil Cameron-Cray, 33, charged with Possession of Scheduled Drugs, and Dillon Ames, 30, all on counts of Violation of Conditions of Release.

Authorities indicated that additional charges and arrest warrants for several other individuals are forthcoming.

The Rockland Police Department expressed its gratitude to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office – Maine and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency for their support in the operation.

This action is part of a broader commitment by the Rockland Police to tackle drug trafficking and improve community living standards.

The department is engaged in several ongoing narcotics investigations, with numerous warrants pending.

The department also collaborates with code enforcement, landlords, and recovery community partners to manage nuisance properties and assist individuals battling substance abuse.
