NORWALK — A local man turned himself in to police Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of first-degree sexual assault and coercion.

Jason Acosta-Williams, 26, of 60 Walter Ave., was accused of threatening to disseminate explicit photographs of the victim to the victim’s family and coworkers if the individual did not comply with his demands for sexual acts, according to Norwalk Police Department officials.

The department’s detectives began their investigation into the alleged sexual assault in August after receiving a complaint.

Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Acosta-Williams who had initially evaded police.

On Oct. 10, the suspect surrendered to authorities.

Acosta-Williams is being held on a $150,000 bond.

His arrest brings attention to the resources available for victims of sexual assault.

The Rowan Center offers a Confidential Hotline at 203-329-2929, and those in immediate danger are urged to call 911.
