TROY — A single-vehicle accident in the early hours of Oct. 7 resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old Newport man on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Vermont State Police reported responding to the crash site on VT Route 100 near Loop Road at approximately 3:20 a.m., where they found a 2014 Ford Focus with significant front-end damage.
The weather conditions were rainy with wet roads, which may have contributed to the accident.
The driver, identified as Peyton Libby, was wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries.
He was transported to North Country Hospital for treatment.
After exhibiting signs of impairment during an interaction with troopers at the hospital, Libby was taken into custody.
He was processed at the same facility on suspicion of DUI.
Libby was later released with a citation to appear in Orleans County Criminal Court to face the charges.
