EAST HAVEN — Five juveniles were arrested Monday following a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle linked to multiple armed robberies and thefts in the area, authorities said.

The suspects, ranging in age from 11 to 15, were apprehended around 12:10 p.m. after a joint operation by East Haven and New Haven police departments.

Officers were dispatched to Laurel Street and Eldred Drive to assist New Haven police in tracking a red Hyundai with New Jersey plates, reported stolen and suspected in recent armed robberies.

East Haven Detective Jon Trinh spotted the vehicle circulating Millbrook Plaza on Foxon Road.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, initiating a pursuit.

The chase ended when an East Haven officer disabled the stolen vehicle with his cruiser.

All five juveniles fled on foot but were quickly apprehended.

Each suspect was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and interfering with an officer.

One juvenile was sent to Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center due to a remand-to-custody order, while the others were released to guardians with court summonses.

One suspect was hospitalized after a New Haven officer used pepper spray during the arrest.

A warrant will be sought for this individual.

The case remains under investigation, as the suspects are believed to be involved in several recent thefts and armed robberies in the area.

Due to Connecticut state law, neither dash cam footage nor the identities of the juveniles will be released.
