Rockland police respond to damaged gas line, suspect detained for mental health evaluation

ROCKLAND — Rockland Police responded to a complaint on Saturday evening regarding an incident at a local apartment complex where an individual reportedly damaged a propane gas line, posing a potential fire hazard.

Authorities were alerted to the situation on Main Street, and the Rockland Fire & EMS Department swiftly arrived to mitigate any danger from the damaged gas infrastructure.

Police identified and located the suspect, a person already familiar to law enforcement, and engaged with them without incident.

The individual was taken into protective custody and has since been transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.
