BOSTON — Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning after Boston Police officers recovered a loaded firearm during a traffic stop in Roxbury.

At about 12:30 a.m., officers assigned to District B-2 observed a vehicle that failed to stop at a red light and blocked a crosswalk at the intersection of Warren St. and Whiting St. They conducted a traffic stop at 150 Warren St., where they encountered the driver, Elijah Derosa-Hampton, 21, of Bridgewater, and passenger Sean Blackwell, 19, of Boston.

As an officer approached the vehicle on foot, Derosa-Hampton appeared to be concealing something.

Upon further investigation, a Smith & Wesson (M&P 9 Shield) with one 9mm round in the chamber and a magazine with seven rounds was found in Blackwell’s pants.

A background check revealed that Derosa-Hampton had an active arrest warrant.

He was taken into custody and is scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury District Court on charges related to the warrant for Assault & Battery.

Derosa-Hampton also received a citation for traffic violations, including failure to stop at a red light, crosswalk violation, and no inspection sticker.

Blackwell faces charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License (2nd Offense), Carrying a Firearm Without a License (2nd Offense), and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
