ARLINGTON — Police in Arlington are alerting the community to a scam involving their non-emergency phone number being spoofed by individuals claiming to be officers with an arrest warrant.

The Arlington Police Department has received multiple reports from residents about calls from their non-emergency line, 781-643-1212, in which the scammers tell the victims there is a warrant for their arrest.

Authorities emphasize that they would never contact individuals by phone to threaten arrest.

Residents are advised to hang up immediately if they receive such a call and to refrain from providing any personal or payment information over the phone.

The police urge anyone who has received one of these calls to report it to the department.
