St. Johnsbury shooting leaves man in critical condition

ST. JOHNSBURY — A man was critically injured early Sunday morning in a shooting on McGill Avenue, according to Vermont State Police.

Authorities report that they received a call at about 3:10 a.m. from a witness who said a masked individual had forcibly entered an apartment and shot the victim in the chest.

The victim was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

State police described the shooting as an isolated and targeted incident.

As of late Sunday afternoon, there have been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

While the victim’s identity has not been released, officials say further details will be provided as they become available.
