BATH — A quiet Sunday morning turned tragic as Bath Police and multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a double homicide at a local residence.
At approximately 6:50 a.m. on Oct. 6, officers from Bath and Brunswick Police Departments, along with Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Deputies, arrived at 10 Crawford Drive following reports of a shooting.
They discovered two adult women, 58-year-old Lisa Bailey and her 32-year-old daughter Jennifer Bailey, with gunshot wounds.
Despite attempts to save their lives, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspected shooter, identified as 66-year-old Michael Bailey, husband to Lisa and father to Jennifer, was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the residence.
Maine State Police Tactical Team assisted in the operation, and the bodies have been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for autopsies.
Chief Andrew Booth of the Bath Police Department expressed gratitude for the support from all participating agencies and offered condolences to the victims’ family, urging the public to refrain from unhelpful comments.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, together with Bath Police, are investigating the crime to establish a timeline of events.
