East Windsor crash leaves driver dead, passenger in critical condition

EAST WINDSOR — A motor vehicle accident early Sunday morning has resulted in the death of a driver and left a passenger in critical condition, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

Authorities were dispatched to the scene at 119 Chamberlain Road around 10:30 a.m. after receiving an OnStar notification of the crash.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a single vehicle that had veered off the road and into a wooded area before striking a tree.

The driver was found unconscious and not breathing, while the front seat passenger was conscious but had suffered several severe injuries.

Police began immediate aid efforts.

East Windsor Ambulance and Broad Brook Fire Department personnel arrived soon after to assist with the emergency.

The regional Metro Traffic Services unit also responded to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident.

Preliminary findings suggest that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency while behind the wheel.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the passenger was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The identities of the individuals involved are being withheld pending family notification.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
