ENOSBURGH — Vermont State Police have taken 29-year-old Jordan Lawyer into custody on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree aggravated domestic assault following an incident that left his father dead and his mother severely wounded.

The arrest occurred late Friday, Oct. 4, after an alleged assault at their shared residence at 2521 West Enosburgh Rd.

Lawyer is accused of attacking his parents with a baseball bat, leading to the death of his father, 54-year-old Todd Lawyer, and the hospitalization of his mother, 58-year-old Robin Lawyer, who is now in stable condition.

Lawyer has been ordered to be held without bail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday, Oct. 7, at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans.

An autopsy to determine Todd Lawyer’s exact cause of death is scheduled at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.

Further information is pending and will become available after the arraignment, at which time the affidavit of probable cause will be filed and made public.

Media inquiries about the hearing should be directed to the court.
