South Burlington man arrested for second DUI after crash

CHARLOTTE — A South Burlington man was arrested for his second DUI offense after crashing his vehicle into a ditch on Lime Kiln Road on April 10.

Vermont State Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident at 8:14 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the vehicle abandoned off the road.

A witness informed the troopers that the driver had fled on foot.

Jonathan Handy, 36, was later found in a nearby driveway by troopers.

Investigations indicated that Handy was on his way to a friend’s house when he veered off the road.

Troopers noted signs of impairment during their interaction with Handy and took him into custody under suspicion of DUI.

Handy was processed at the Williston State Police Barracks.

He received a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court on Oct. 29 at 8:30 a.m. for the alleged offense.
