Putney couple arrested, woman charged with assaulting officer

PUTNEY — Vermont State Police apprehended two residents late Tuesday night after an altercation at a local home.

At approximately 11:57 p.m. on Oct. 1, troopers were dispatched to a disturbance on Mill Brook Road.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Chelsea M. Long, 25, and Stephen Robinson, 31, both of Putney.

Robinson was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant and was taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility for lodging.

During the incident, Long assaulted a Vermont State Trooper.

The trooper involved did not report any injuries.

Long was arrested for assault on a protected officer and resisting arrest.

She was processed and released to a family member with a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on Nov. 26 at 8:30 a.m.

The Vermont State Police has not released any information regarding the victim of the disturbance, following policies on confidentiality in cases of sexual assault or domestic violence.

The investigation into the disturbance continues as authorities work to determine the full scope of the incident.
