WEST HAVEN — A routine patrol led to the arrest of a convicted felon after West Haven Police officers observed a suspicious vehicle on Saw Mill Road near the I95 south entrance ramp at around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.

During a traffic stop conducted by the patrol division, Jahkyi Johnson, 20, of Bridgeport, was found to be in possession of a “Ghost Gun”—a firearm without a serial number—equipped with an extended magazine capable of holding 24 rounds, 18 of which were loaded, including one in the chamber.

Johnson, who is prohibited from owning a firearm due to his status as a convicted felon, was also identified as being on the Deadly Weapon Offender Registry due to a prior firearms-related conviction.

He was arrested and charged with illegal manufacturing of a firearm, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal possession of ammunition.

Johnson is currently being held on bond pending further legal proceedings.
