NORTH HAVEN — North Haven Police arrested a 73-year-old Hamden man on charges of illegal possession of child pornography in the second degree following a months-long investigation that began at a local Best Buy.

On March 6, police responded to the electronics store on Universal Drive after employees reported finding potential Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on two computers during a file transfer.

North Haven detectives worked in coordination with state and federal agencies to investigate the matter.

The State of Connecticut Forensic Laboratory and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children confirmed the presence of CSAM after analyzing the computers.

An arrest warrant was issued for Edward Beaudette, the owner of the computers.

Beaudette was taken into custody on Oct. 4 and was held on a $50,000 court-set bond.

He was arraigned this morning at Meriden Superior Court.
