Malden police seize illegal firearm, Salem man arrested

MALDEN — Officers from the Malden Police Department arrested a 19-year-old Salem man on Oct. 3 after they recovered an illegally possessed firearm during a proactive policing effort around the Pearl Street area.

Officer Blake Ferry and Officer Dave Kessler encountered the suspect and seized the firearm, which was later confirmed to be stolen property.

The Salem man, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody and charged with firearms violations and receiving stolen property.

The arrest comes as part of an ongoing initiative by the Malden Police to address illegal weapons in the community.

The department is urging residents to remain vigilant about their children’s whereabouts, friends, and personal items when leaving home, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in preventing potential tragedies.
