FAIRFIELD — Following an incident on the evening of Oct. 3 involving a group of juveniles, Fairfield Police Department has intervened and filed charges in response to an altercation that has caused community unease, intensified by a video circulating on social media.

Investigations confirmed that four juveniles were involved in persistent verbal harassment and bullying of a fifth, leading to an escalation when the victim displayed kitchen knives.

The police underscored that violence or weapon use is not a permissible response.

All parties face charges and are set to appear in juvenile court.

The department assures no lasting threat to student safety.

Fairfield Public Schools, informed within legal limits, will conduct an internal inquiry and urged families to report and address bullying using available resources.

Jointly, the police and school district are committed to addressing bullying and its repercussions effectively.

They also appeal to the community to refrain from sharing incident footage online, which can exacerbate harm and tensions.

The Fairfield Police Department pledges to maintain a secure environment for students in collaboration with Fairfield Public Schools.
