PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield resident has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left another man in critical condition earlier this week, police said Thursday.
Rajiv Hanger, 24, was taken into custody Thursday afternoon by members of the Pittsfield Police Department and the Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force.
He faces charges of armed assault with intent to murder and mayhem, following a violent altercation on Kent Avenue on Tuesday.
The victim, a 30-year-old man from Pittsfield, was found with at least one stab wound and was rushed to Berkshire Medical Center where he remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Hanger, who was also charged with being a fugitive from justice without a warrant due to outstanding issues in Maine, is expected to be arraigned in Pittsfield District Court.
Authorities are still seeking information from the public regarding the stabbing.
