LONDONDERRY — A hit-and-run suspect was apprehended Saturday night after a serious vehicle accident, thanks to the efforts of the Londonderry Police Department and K-9 officer Zeus.
At about 9:57 p.m., police responded to a collision on Nashua Road near the Hudson town line.
Witnesses reported that one of the drivers fled on foot.
Officers arrived to find a woman with serious, though non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation showed a 2021 Honda HR-V was hit by a 2020 Ford F-150 making an illegal U-turn.
The truck driver tried to leave the scene but was stopped by vehicle damage and fled into nearby woods.
Officer Morin and K-9 Zeus, with Officer Ribeiro, tracked the suspect, identified as Justus Carne, 40, of Derry, NH.
After refusing to surrender, Carne was located by Zeus and detained without further incident.
Carne faces multiple charges, including aggravated DWI and resisting arrest.
He was released on bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 8 in Derry District Court.
As is customary in the U.S. justice system, the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
