WORCESTER — Detectives from the Worcester Police Department’s Crime Gun Intelligence Unit apprehended 20-year-old Yvan Soup on Oct. 1, during a traffic stop near police headquarters at about 6:15 p.m.
Soup, who was sitting in the backseat of the vehicle, was known by the detective to have several outstanding warrants.
Upon activation of the police emergency lights, the vehicle was pulled over and Soup was taken into custody without incident.
During the arrest, a loaded high-capacity firearm with an obliterated serial number was found on Soup.
He admitted to not having a carrying license, which was confirmed by the detectives.
The Crime Scene Unit secured the weapon and ammunition as evidence.
Soup now faces charges related to the outstanding warrants, including possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a firearm and a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, resisting arrest, and possession of an open container of alcohol.
