St. Johnsbury woman arrested for escape after brief foot chase

ST. JOHNSBURY — Monique L. Lapoint, 32, was arrested on Wednesday after a short pursuit on foot by the St. Johnsbury Police Department.

According to a press release, at 12:34 p.m. on Oct. 2, officers located Lapoint on Bay Street and attempted to take her into custody due to an outstanding warrant.

Upon being advised of her warrant status, Lapoint fled from the officers but was apprehended moments later.

Lapoint was transported to court following her capture and was subsequently ordered to jail.

After posting bail of $100, she was released and cited to appear in Caledonia Superior Court on Nov. 4 to respond to the new charge of escape.

Additionally, she is scheduled for a court appearance on Oct. 3 for the initial warrant.

Detective Sgt. Lester Cleary of the St. Johnsbury Police Department is the officer handling the case.
