SOMERVILLE — A series of assaults, thefts, and an armed robbery have recently put the Somerville Police Department on high alert.

Officers responded to an assault report on College Ave at around 8:43 p.m. on Sept. 26, where they found a victim who claimed to have been attacked by two males in Statue Park.

This incident, designated as case number 24059774, followed another assault that occurred the previous day, Sept. 25, at around 2:10 p.m. Case number 24059437 involved a victim who was assaulted by a male and female while waiting to use a bathroom at a business on Somerville Ave.

In a separate incident on Sept. 26, around 11:34 a.m., police arrested an intoxicated man who was causing a disturbance on Broadway.

Identified as case number 24056949, the suspect was reported to have been sleeping in a doorway and, upon being woken, became aggressive, shouting profanities and kicking a building.

He subsequently pushed the door into the victim, striking him on his side, which led to the suspect’s arrest.

The police were also called to the scene of an armed robbery at a business on Broadway at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 29.

The clerk reported that a male assailant had brandished a kitchen knife and demanded money from the register before fleeing onto Brighton St with the cash (case number 24060462).

Other criminal activities reported include three package thefts, three bike thefts, two motor vehicle vandalisms, three other acts of vandalism, two car break-ins, and one moped theft.

The recent crime wave has prompted the Somerville Police to increase patrols and ask the community for any information that may assist in the investigations.
