Branford teen arrested for purse snatching at local Walmart

BRANFORD — A 17-year-old from New Haven was arrested today in connection with a purse snatching incident at the Walmart in Branford, according to police.

The Branford Police Department reported that officers were called to the scene earlier today after the suspect allegedly bumped into the victim, snatched her purse from her shopping cart, and fled in a stolen vehicle that was parked nearby.

The vehicle involved in the getaway has been linked to other similar crimes in the area and has not yet been recovered.

Police believe it may also be connected to two additional incidents in Branford.

Detectives are actively investigating and seeking other suspects connected to the string of crimes.

The juvenile has been charged with third-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny.
