BOSTON — In a targeted effort to address community complaints of illicit drug activity, officers from the Boston Police Department’s Roxbury Drug Control Unit made an arrest on Tuesday, October 1, for drug trafficking charges.

At approximately 1:19 p.m., officers on patrol in the vicinity of Roxbury Street and Washington Street observed two individuals engaging in what appeared to be a drug transaction.

After witnessing the exchange, police were able to detain one suspect, later identified as Jaylin Hawkins, 29, of Boston.

Hawkins was found in possession of a plastic bag containing crack cocaine and was informed he would be summoned to Roxbury District Court for Possession of Class B.

Despite initial attempts, the second suspect evaded capture.

Later that day, around 5:50 p.m., officers located Hawkins at 2360 Washington Street.

Upon arrest and subsequent search, Hawkins was found with another bag of crack cocaine and $607 in cash.

Further investigation during the booking process led to the discovery of additional quantities of crack cocaine in multiple bags, totaling approximately 38 grams.

The evidence resulted in Hawkins facing charges of Trafficking of Class B, Distribution Class B, and Distribution of Class B Second Subsequent Offense.

Hawkins is slated for arraignment at Roxbury District Court, where he will respond to the charges levied against him.
