WAREHAM — A man was arrested on Sept. 30 after causing alarm at two Wareham banks while wearing a mask and wig.
Wareham Police Department officers from the Patrol Division responded to reports from concerned employees at Rockland Trust Bank and Santander Bank in Cranberry Plaza.
The banks’ staff alerted authorities about the suspicious male, providing a detailed description and the color of the bicycle he was riding.
James Morrison, 33, from East Wareham, was located by officers and detectives less than a quarter mile from the scene at the intersection of Cranberry Highway and Tyler Avenue.
Morrison was apprehended without incident following an investigation led by both the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions.
Morrison faces two counts each of Attempt to Commit a Crime (Unarmed Robbery) and disturbing the peace.
He is scheduled for arraignment at Wareham Fourth District Court on Oct. 1.
Chief Walter Correia commended the bank employees for their vigilance and for promptly contacting the police, which he said prevented a potentially serious crime.
The Wareham Police Department continues to encourage the public to report any suspicious activities to authorities.
