Attorney General probes fatal officer-involved shooting in Northwood

NORTHWOOD — New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella announced that his office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred this morning in Northwood, leaving one adult male dead at a residence along Route 4.

Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of his family.

An autopsy is to be carried out by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.

The incident unfolded after police were called to the scene following a report of a disturbance.

During the encounter, one law enforcement officer sustained injuries.

Officials have indicated there is no ongoing threat to the public.

In line with established protocol, the name of the officer involved is being withheld until a formal interview can be completed as part of the investigation.
