Four arrested in illegal street takeover at Stratford shopping center

STRATFORD — Police disrupted an illegal street takeover involving hundreds of vehicles at a local shopping center early Saturday morning, arresting four individuals in connection with the event.

According to the Stratford Police Department, officers were called to 200 East Main Street shortly after midnight on Sept. 29 to address the unsanctioned gathering.

Upon arrival, they encountered numerous vehicles and bystanders.

The officers arrested Carlos Sanchez Hernandez, Mailin Perez, Rodney Gist, and Tyler Ranger, all of whom were charged with Breach of Peace.

Perez faces additional charges of operating an unregistered motor vehicle and without insurance.

Each was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16.

Two vehicles involved in the takeover were towed from the scene, police said.

Captain Jerry Pinto of the Detective Bureau did not provide further details about the incident or the arrests.
