Colchester mail carrier dies after vehicle crash

COLCHESTER — A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier died Sunday after his vehicle crashed into the woods along Shore Acres Drive, police said.

Douglas Loso, 56, of Colchester, was found unresponsive in his USPS vehicle around noon after it drifted off the southbound shoulder of the road near 921 Shore Acres Drive, according to the Colchester Police Department.

Officers began CPR at the scene.

Loso was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the crash may have resulted from a medical event.

The vehicle was traveling at a slow speed when it left the road, police said.

The Colchester Fire Department and Burlington Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
