Boston police identify victim in fatal Mattapan shooting

BOSTON — Boston police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday in the city’s Mattapan neighborhood.

Mitchell Felix Duru, 23, of Jamaica Plain, was found suffering from gunshot wounds at approximately 1:05 a.m. on Sept. 29 in the area of 849 Cummins Highway, according to the Boston Police Department.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from District E-18 responded to reports of a person shot at the location.

The department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.

The police department has assured that the identities of those providing information anonymously will be protected.
