Wickford man arrested on weapon, drug charges after traffic stop

WICKFORD — A Rhode Island man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on multiple weapon and drug charges following a traffic stop in West Warwick.

At 12:05 p.m., Rhode Island State Troopers took Angel Otero, 31, of Cranston, into custody after a vehicle stop on St. Mary’s Street.

Otero faces charges including carrying a pistol without a license or permit, three counts of possession of prohibited weapons other than firearms, having a loaded weapon in a vehicle, and possession of a Schedule I to V controlled substance less than 10 grams.

Following the arrest, Otero was processed at the State Police Wickford Barracks.

He was specially arraigned as a bail violator and then transported to the Adult Correctional Facility – Men’s Intake Center.

The Rhode Island State Police have urged anyone with additional information to contact Captain Jeffrey P.
