CARVER — Emergency teams from Carver Police Department, Carver Fire Department, and Carver EMS hurried to the scene at Ward Street Extension after reports of a car in the water on Sept. 28 at about 8:13 p.m.

Upon their arrival, authorities found the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, had already exited the water and was unharmed.

The incident prompted officials to close South Meadow Road at Ward Street and Stoney Brook at Ward Street Extension for several hours as crews worked to clear the area.

The circumstances leading up to the vehicle’s submersion are currently under investigation.

The Carver Police Department has not released any additional information about the incident or the driver’s identity.

Local residents were advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while the operations were ongoing.

The roads were eventually reopened later that night once the car was safely removed from the water and the scene was secured.
