Woman charged with DUI after crash injures passenger in South Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON — A single-vehicle crash on I-89 Northbound left two people injured and led to a DUI charge for a Maine woman, authorities said.

Vermont State Police responded to a report of a crash near Mile Marker 86 at 1:44 p.m. Thursday.

Upon arrival, troopers found Jennifer Bernier, 40, of Sabattus, Maine, standing beside the damaged vehicle.

Bernier and her passenger, Shane Wilson, 44, also from Sabattus, were both injured and taken to UVM Medical Center for treatment.

During the investigation, troopers noted signs of impairment in Bernier’s behavior.

After a thorough investigation, Bernier was issued a criminal citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court to face charges of DUI #1 with injury resulting.

The court date has yet to be announced.
