FREEPORT — A rollover crash involving a white GMC work van injured four people Friday morning on Interstate 295, according to Maine State Police.
The accident happened at approximately 6:58 a.m. when the northbound van, driven by 29-year-old Edison Uscha-Roto of South Portland, veered off the roadway to the left, struck a crossover, and rolled over, coming to rest and blocking the first lane of the interstate.
Uscha-Roto, who was found to have been operating the vehicle with a suspended license, was among the injured.
He and three passengers were transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders from Cumberland, Freeport, and Yarmouth Rescues attended the scene, with additional support from Yarmouth and Freeport Police Departments.
Copp Motors was tasked with removing the overturned van, which had scattered construction tools and equipment across the lane and into the median.
The northbound lane one of I-295 was closed for nearly two hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
The lane has since been reopened.
State Police have reported that the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
