Fairfield smoke shop inspections lead to arrests, THC product seizures

FAIRFIELD — On Sept. 25, the Fairfield Police Department Detective Division, alongside various state agencies, executed inspections at several smoke shops in Fairfield, resulting in the discovery and seizure of illegal THC products and multiple arrests.

The coordinated effort included the Department of Consumer Protection, Department of Mental Health Services, Department of Labor, and Department of Revenue Services.

Authorities confiscated vape pens, edibles, pre-rolls, and marijuana from the inspected premises.

The Quality of Life Unit of the Fairfield Police took possession of the illicit substances.

The inspections covered Issam Plus at 92 Post Road, Mohegan Smoke Shop at 525 Tunxis Hill Cutoff, and World Smoke and Cigar Shop at 95 Reef Road.

Arrested in the operation were Vivekanand Harilall, an employee at World Smoke and Cigar Shop; Issam Madineh, owner of Issam Plus; and Tamer Nafaa, an employee at Issam Plus.

Each was charged with the sale of a controlled substance without a license and possession of marijuana over 8 ounces with intent to sell or distribute.

They are scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Oct. 8.

The investigation remains active, and the Fairfield Police anticipate further arrests.

The department acknowledged the community’s assistance in providing tips and committed to addressing illegal activities impacting resident safety and quality of life.
