EAST HAVEN — The East Haven Police Department is seeking public assistance following a series of burglaries that occurred Sept. 26 in the Ellis Road and Brazos Road area.

Authorities were called to the scene around 12:07 p.m. after a report of an individual entering a garage.

A male suspect was seen exiting a dark-colored SUV and stealing a wallet from a Jeep Grand Cherokee inside an open garage on Ellis Road, while the homeowner was present.

Two vehicles suspected in the burglaries, a stolen dark Volkswagen Atlas without license plates and a gray BMW SUV with Connecticut plates BM20643, were spotted in the vicinity.

The BMW’s registration was found to be for a stolen 2008 Honda Accord from New Haven.

In a related report, a Brazos Road resident informed officers that the same vehicles were seen at their property, where a lean, light-skinned male suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole cash and personal items.

The Guilford Police Department had previously reported the Volkswagen Atlas as stolen, which was confirmed to match the description of the Atlas involved in the burglaries, including a silver ski/roof rack seen in surveillance footage.

As the suspects remain at large and unidentified, the East Haven Police Department is urging anyone with information on the burglaries to contact them at 203-468-3820.

The investigation is ongoing.
