COLCHESTER — A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 northbound resulted in a totaled Subaru but no injuries to the driver early Thursday morning.
Vermont State Police reported that at 7:44 a.m., troopers from the Williston Barracks were called to the scene near mile marker 96.6 in Colchester where they discovered a 2016 Subaru Forester resting on its side facing east in the traveling lane.
The operator, Wesley Vixamar, 27, of Burlington, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The investigation indicated that Vixamar, traveling in the passing lane, lost control of his vehicle due to hydroplaning on the wet roadway, causing the vehicle to veer off the lane and roll over.
Vixamar showed no signs of impairment and did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
His vehicle was deemed a total loss and was subsequently removed from the scene by Handy’s Towing.
The crash site was attended by Colchester Rescue, Colchester Fire Department, and Handy’s Towing, alongside the State Police.
Local authorities remind drivers to exercise caution while driving in wet conditions.
