Norwalk teen arrested for hoax school shooting threat

NORWALK — A juvenile was arrested Wednesday by the Norwalk Police Department’s Special Victims Unit after allegedly posting a threatening message on Snapchat regarding a school shooting planned for Sept. 26 at Ponus Middle School.

Investigators swiftly determined the threat was a hoax, leading to the arrest of the unnamed minor on Sept. 25.

The charges against the juvenile include Threatening 1st and Computer Crime 4th.

The Norwalk Police Department expressed gratitude to the Ponus Middle School community and @norwalkschoolsct for their prompt reporting of the alarming post and their collaboration with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

Authorities have not released further details about the incident or the identity of the suspect due to the individual’s juvenile status.
