FALL RIVER — Police units responded to a report of a suspicious male potentially armed with a firearm on the 200 block of Rock Street at about 8:45 a.m. today, leading to a brief lockdown of Resiliency Preparatory Academy.

The School Resource Unit, acting with an abundance of caution, secured the school while officers assessed the potential threat.

After a thorough investigation, authorities determined the individual in question was not in possession of a firearm and posed no danger to the school or the surrounding area.

The lockdown at Resiliency Preparatory Academy was subsequently lifted, and normal school activities resumed without further incident.

The Fall River Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the initial report.
