ST. ALBANS — In the early hours of Sept. 25, St. Albans Police Department officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm at Maple City Diner and arrested a 26-year-old suspect for burglary.

At approximately 2:56 a.m., the police were dispatched to the diner located at 17 Swanton Rd after the alarm activation was reported.

While en route, the diner owner contacted Central Dispatch stating they were viewing live security footage of an intruder inside the establishment.

Upon arrival, officers detained Kristen Yerry, an unhoused individual, who was found on the premises.

Police recovered various items Yerry had allegedly removed from the diner.

Following consultation with the Franklin County State Attorney’s Office and a judicial officer from the Vermont Superior Court, Yerry’s bail was set at $5,000 with conditions of release specified.

Unable to post bail, Yerry was lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington.

Records show Yerry has a history of seven prior failures to appear in court.
