SOUTHINGTON — A multi-vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon left several people injured and caused a significant traffic disruption on Queen Street.

At approximately 2:36 p.m., Southington Police Department, alongside the Southington Fire Department and American Medical Response, were called to the scene of the accident near the intersection of Queen Street and Birch Street.

According to the preliminary investigation, a vehicle heading southbound on Queen Street failed to navigate a left curve properly, crossing the double yellow line and sideswiping a northbound vehicle before colliding head-on with another.

The force of the collision caused the second northbound vehicle to roll over, and a fourth vehicle was also involved in the aftermath.

Multiple occupants from the various vehicles were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two small dogs in one of the vehicles sustained minor injuries and received immediate care from the Southington Police Department’s Animal Control officers.

The identities of those involved have not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Southington Police Department is urging anyone with information about the crash to contact Officer Joseph Grigerek at (860) 621-0101 ext. #2387.
