1 min read

NORTH HAVEN — After a thorough investigation, North Haven Police Department detectives arrested a local babysitter on charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.

The investigation began in late August when a parent reported suspected lewd behavior involving their children and a babysitter during July.

The North Haven Police, working alongside the Department of Children and Families (DCF), conducted interviews with the adults involved and performed forensic interviews with the minors.

On Sept. 20, detectives arrested Helen Leah Ferriolo, 40, of Wallingford, following a warrant approved by the court.

Ferriolo faces four counts of Risk of Injury to a Child, three counts of Unlawful Restraint in the Second Degree, and one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree.

The North Haven Police Department has not released further details about the case, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to protect the identities of the minors involved.
