NORTON — A Speedway gas station clerk was arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at the West Main Street location, Norton Police Department officials said Monday.
On Sunday at 8:54 p.m., police responded to the Speedway gas station following reports of an armed robbery.
The clerk initially reported that a masked, white male entered the store, threatened him with a knife, and demanded cash and cigarettes.
According to the clerk, the suspect fled with the items.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Norton Police, assisted by a Foxboro K9 unit and Massachusetts State Police K9, conducted a search but were unable to locate the suspect immediately following the incident.
Further investigation by Norton Police Detectives revealed the store clerk was complicit in the robbery.
The clerk was subsequently arrested and appeared in Attleboro District Court on Monday, facing charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, accessory before the fact, and accessory after the fact.
An arrest warrant was also issued for a North Attleboro man believed to have been the masked suspect.
Working in collaboration with North Attleboro Police and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Norton Police Detectives apprehended the man in North Attleboro today.
Upon executing a search warrant at a residence, authorities found items linked to the robbery.
The North Attleboro suspect was charged with armed robbery while masked (subsequent offense) and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
He was arraigned in Attleboro District Court later in the afternoon.
The investigation into the Speedway gas station robbery is ongoing.
