Rangers excel at Danville Invite, give back to community

DANVILLE — The Rangers cross country team showcased their talent and depth at the Danville Invitational, with the girls’ team securing second place and the boys finishing third in their respective races.

Captain Charlie Edlund and freshman Nora Demaine spearheaded the girls’ success, both earning medals with top-10 finishes. Edlund crossed the line in sixth place, while Demaine followed closely in eighth.

The girls’ squad saw a wave of personal records (PRs) set by Demaine, Ivy Arant, Fiona Bock, Bella Hanover, Nell Urie, Maeda Urie, Mia Lussier and Giovanna Chinaglia, highlighting the team’s overall improvement.

On the boys’ side, captain Xaviar Chapdelaine led the charge with an impressive second-place finish, clocking a season-best time. A tight pack of runners rounded out the scoring five for the Rangers, with Ethan Gratton-Derbyshire, Josiah Quinn, Isaac Heinchon and Gavyn Letzelter all finishing within a minute of each other.

Ethan Gratton-Derbyshire, Isaac Heinchon and Isaac Smartt also notched PRs in the boys’ race, contributing to the team’s strong third-place showing.

The Rangers’ commitment extended beyond the race course. The day after the invitational, team members volunteered at an aid station for the Northeast Kingdom Marathon and Half Marathon, demonstrating their dedication to the local running community.
